Brick Fundraising Division

Our Brick Fundraising Division can help your organization raise money for an upcoming project by creating personalized bricks, pavers and stones that you, in turn, give to donors as a 'thank you' for their donation.

We can etch names and other text into bricks, pavers and stones which can then be used to create walkways, courtyards, sidewalks, retaining walls or other landscaping features.

Some of our current clients include the Cayuga Waterfront Trail, the Sampson Air Force and Navy Museums, Hospicare, and the Trumansburg American Legion.

Below are some examples of the projects done to date.

The Cayuga Waterfront Trail is a trail along the water's edge that will eventually link Cass Park on the West side of Cayuga Lake's south end to the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce on the East side.

The first phase of the project included a trail head at Cass Park along with over two miles of multi-use trails in and around Cass Park and along the west side of the Cayuga Lake inlet.

As a way to raise some of the money needed to create such an ambitious project, etched bricks, pavers and local bluestone were etched by SPEC Consulting and given to donors in appreciation of their generous gifts to the trail fund.

The trailhead marker itself is granite, also etched by SPEC Consulting.

This particular piece of granite has a split face.   The face that has the etching was created as a result of actually splitting the stone with a guillotine-type device made specifically for this purpose.

For this project, you can see that bricks, pavers and bluestone were all used and were all a different size.

The bricks are approximately 8"x4", the grey pavers are approximately 7"x8" and the bluestone is approximately 12"x12".

As an interesting side note, the bricks used for this trailhead were the same bricks that paved State Street in Ithaca for many years before being removed a few years ago.

The Trumansburg American Legion

You may be able to see the etched bricks incorporated into the brick patio surrounding the cannon.

The next picture is a closeup of a couple of the bricks included around the cannon.

The text on the bricks is three quarters of an inch tall and includes up to 14 characters per line.

After this first fundraising period, the first order of etched bricks is processed, and the bricks are delivered to the site where they will be installed.

The etched bricks are then installed along with other stock bricks to completely cover the area to be improved.

After this initial installation, the fundraising continues by further promotion of the project and further donations rewarded with etched bricks.

As more bricks are etched, the stock bricks are removed from the improved area and replaced with etched bricks.

Depending on the terms of the project, the stock bricks may be returned to SPEC Consulting for a credit or to etch future brick orders.
